Homemade will be closed from Friday 30th July to Tuesday August 31st 2010. We re open on Wednesday September 1st. We close due to outside catering commitments - namely Weddings.

Homemade Deli

We have recently expanded Homemade and opened a small deli selling olives, antipasti, Yorkshire cheeses, handmade pates and Welsh rarebit as well as an array of fabulous jars of jams, jellies, chutneys, relishes, sauces and dressings, the Award winning Pipers crisps, nuts, spicy broadbeans, biscuits and crackers and of course loose leaf teas and coffee beans ground the way you like them.

Friday Night is Bistro Night

Every Friday we are open between 7-10.30 for our Bistro Night. We offer a two or three course set menu with fish/meat options. Bring Your Own Wine. Bookings recommended. Currently we are not offering Saturday night bistro evenings but hope to offer these in October and November.

Burger and Shake Night

Our Burger and Shake night has become so popular, we advise that you book a table. Homemade will re launch the Burger Night after the summer break, on Wednesday September 8th from 5-9pm. We hand make seven burgers, five veggie, two meat and four of them are gluten free! Currently we can offer a Burger and Shake Night to a private party booking of 18 or more people.

Christmas Parties at Homemade

We will be advertising our Christmas Menu from mid September. Group bookings are welcomed. To have the whole space you will need to be a group of 24 or more. To share the space with another group, we need a minimum of 15 people per group. Its bring your own wine and we just charge £1 per head corkage. Book early to avoid disappointment!

Want the cafe for private party?

Are you interested in meeting up with friends for an evening at the café? We often cater for book groups, birthday parties, work related social events and meetings, societies and clubs.

We take bookings for private events on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings from 7.00-10.00. Minimum of 10 people, maximum of 36. Saturday evening bookings are for groups of 18 or more. We offer a two course menu from £16.50 per head, or £20 per head for three courses. Price includes pre dinner appetizers and we only charge £1 a head corkage on your wine.

Stuff to know

Homemade is open Tuesday to Saturday for coffee, homemade cakes and lunch. Our menu changes daily. On Saturdays we offer vegetarian and meat breakfasts until midday as well as a lunch menu.

How to get a table

The café is generally at its busiest during the 12.00pm-2.00pm lunchtime and if you need a table of 5 people or more then it is advisable to book. We are happy to accommodate group bookings of up to 12 people during the lunch hour period although we ask you book your table after 1pm to allow service to regular customers.

Currently our Friday night Bistro Evenings run from 7.00pm to 10.30pm although groups can be accommodated earlier if children are in the party.

We do advise you book a table, although if we have room we will always seat you.

What we believe

At Homemade we offer a daily changing vegetarian menu that uses the freshest seasonal produce available.

We believe in sourcing and using local produce where possible, and offer unusual fresh salads, homemade soups and warm dishes of the day that challenge conventional ideas about vegetarian cuisine. We have a small and intimate cafe space and cater for a wide variety of dietary needs from vegans to coeliacs. Most importantly, we as owners, prepare, cook and serve all our own food, and therefore know exactly what each dish contains.

We have been supported by the residents of Nether Edge and see ourselves as a community cafe, yet have increasingly found people travelling from all over Sheffield to eat with us in the cafe and at our Bistro Night due to the power of word of mouth. Even our Burger and Shake Night offers four homemade vegetarian/vegan burgers and just one homemade beef burger, oven roasted potato wedges as well as soya milk and fresh fruit shakes - we must have the healthiest burger night in Sheffield!
