Trudi & Justine's bit

Homemade is Trudi and Justine’s first business together.

Homemade and Deli@No2 are owned by Trudi Colman and Justine Twigge. Having met 12 years ago whilst at Hallam University completing their PGCEs in Post Compulsory Education and Training, Trudi and Justine became good friends. They discovered that their love of teaching was rivalled only by their love of cooking. Both Trudi and Justine were inspired and influenced by their grandparents’ passion for home cooked food.

Trudi’s grandfather Percy Gunter started cooking at the age of 12 and worked as a chef in the RAF during World War 2. He became known as an excellent cake maker beating all female rivals across Exmoor. He continued cooking for the whole of his life. Trudi's Mum, Carole was a fabulous baker of scones, biscuits and cakes but most notably pastry. She passed away in 2010 but was both delighted and proud to see Homemade going from strength to strength.

Justine’s grandmother Lilly Gallagher worked in many hotels in Southport and had a passion for home cooked food and wanted the best ingredients possible sending Justine on two bus rides in Liver pool to get the vegetables, fruit and meat she loved! Lilly also loved baking and preparing fresh cakes and pies.

In 2007, Trudi and Justine left their teaching jobs to go travelling around the world together and it was whilst far away in New Zealand that their hopes for “Homemade” were born. Homemade has now been recognised for the food they provide and has earned the Healthy Choices Award from Sheffield City Council. in 2010, Homemade expanded and a new business - the Deli @ No 2 - was born. Selling Yorkshire cheeses, anti pasti and olives, local jams, jellies and chutneys and a great selection of handmade sandwiches, Deli @ No 2 can make your mouth water...
