Bistro Evenings

We are a small venue that can fill up easily, so sometimes it might seem difficult trying to book a table at our bistro evening. We do get cancellations sometimes so always leave your number. We offer a relaxed, informal, candle lit environment with the emphasis on home cooked food with a changing weekly menu..

The menu comprises three vegetarian starters with a gluten free and vegan option. We then cook three vegetarian main dishes alongside one fish and one meat dish. The meal is finished off with at least three delicious desserts to choose from. We offer a cheeseboard of locally sourced Yorkshire cheese from our deli for those of you who dont share our love of sweet things! The emphasis is on good, home cooked food.

Currently our Friday night Bistro Evenings run from 7.30pm to 10.30pm although groups can be accommodated earlier if children are in the party.

A two course meal is £16.50, a three course meal is £20

We accept cheques and cash only. We now charge £2 per bottle of wine for corkage. There are off licences near Homemade if you need to buy wine or drinks.

We serve soft drinks and hot drinks at an additional cost.

We do advise you book a table, although if we have room we will always seat you. When you book, it is usual that we ask if you have any dietary requirements to ensure we can offer you a full and varied selection of menu choices.If you are vegan or require gluten free options, please let us know when you book so we can ensure we develop the menu for that week with your needs in mind.

Tagine
Lamb Tagine made with prunes, apricots and cinnamon, served with a tomato and chickpea couscous

Sundried tomato and olive encrusted cod served with homemade gremolata, roasted vine tomatoes and rosemary potatoes (gf)
Meatballs
Homemade meatballs served in a tomato and red pepper sauce on a bed of creamy polenta (gf)

What we believe

At Homemade we offer a daily changing vegetarian menu that uses the freshest seasonal produce available.

We believe in sourcing and using local produce where possible, and offer unusual fresh salads, homemade soups and warm dishes of the day that challenge conventional ideas about vegetarian cuisine. We have a small and intimate cafe space and cater for a wide variety of dietary needs from vegans to coeliacs. Most importantly, we as owners, prepare, cook and serve all our own food, and therefore know exactly what each dish contains.

We have been supported by the residents of Nether Edge and see ourselves as a community cafe, yet have increasingly found people travelling from all over Sheffield to eat with us in the cafe and at our Bistro Night due to the power of word of mouth. Even our Burger and Shake Night offers four homemade vegetarian/vegan burgers and just two homemade meat burgers, oven roasted potato wedges as well as soya milk and fresh fruit shakes - we must have the healthiest burger night in Sheffield!
